Sustainable Tallahassee, Inc. promotes environmental stewardship and economic development through education and collaboration.  Our work is made possible by a grant from the Knight Foundation, membership dues, and private donations.

Community Education Project

The objectives of this initiative are:

  1. Promote knowledge of sustainability at all levels of public and private education, from kindergarten to college to adult levels;
  2. Create curricula for dissemination of sustainability information at formal and informal education courses, including technical topics such as energy conservation, environmental stewardship, efficient transportation, socioeconomic analysis, etc.
  3. Coordinate with other NGOs and non-profits in our area (Leon and adjoining counties) to augment exposure through educational activities;
  4. Work with state, county and city administrators to promote sustainability education amongst public employees by instituting a paid leave for attendance to seminars, conferences, and short courses dealing with sustainable topics; and
  5. Work with  universities and community colleges (FSU, FAMU, TCC, etc.) to use their faculty and researchers as participants in ST-sponsored events, and to engage ST members in their institutional activities.

The project leader is Dr. Carlos S. Boueres (cboueres@msn.com). Please contact him if you are interested in volunteering to work on this project.

Print the questionnaire and mail it to the ST office (612 S. Copeland Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304)
