This year, Chain of Parks fell on Earth Day weekend. To celebrate, Sustainable Tallahassee partnered with Chain of Parks to emphasize sustainability even more at the festival.

Sustainable Tallahassee’s Everyday Sustainability Committee, Rags2Bags team, and EV Club showed up for the two-day event ready to share their knowledge and passion with the community.

The Rags2Bags team supplied hundreds of handmade bags to LeMoyne to use for their merchandise sales, all while sewing made-to-order bags for attendees. The EV Club brought a steady rotation of electric vehicles and e-bikes to demonstrate for the community members. The Everyday Sustainability Committee offered advice on how to incorporate sustainable practices in your everyday life. They even had a recycled art booth for the kids.

Additionally, Sustainable Tallahassee judged the Recycled Content submissions and awarded the prize to Benjamin Peterson from New Port Richey for his incredible use of reclaimed metal, glass, and natural materials to create large format sculptures.

Each year, Sustainable Tallahassee sponsors this $300 prize to encourage artists to create art that uses 75% or more recycled materials. Artists are judged on originality, use of the materials, and execution.

It was a beautiful weekend and perfect way to celebrate Earth Day 2022.
